This is an edited photo I took at my big sister's house today. It's a wine bottle keeper/holder (or however you wanna call it) I got her for her birthday a few weeks ago. As for the photo edit, technically it's nothing special at all (took a few minutes to make) but I totally dig its look.
So that's General W. Ine Bottlebelly, rubbing his wine filled tummy, watching over them green apples.
nice job! i LOVE the General! the complementary palette was a great choice. you distressed the image with restraint and in good taste. the composition might be bumped up by moving the frame at the top plane to the left to create a stronger diagonal. already, three corners are framing the image with darker values; add the burnt orange from the right side to the upper left corner. by framing the General, he becomes more important - the focal point. finally, you might drag the burnt orange cast shadow over to behind the holder. then, on the holder's bottom right side, add some lighter value orange (i might even try the patina) to the edge, creating play amongst the items in the composition. lastly, kill the white that is near the holder, it's a distraction. really nice job!
